Knock the Dust Off This Blog!

golden egg

Man, it really has been quite a week. Taxes, meetings, tests and a Twitter addiction. Oh, and I’ve been playing around with Tumblr.com. It kind of fills my void of wanting to send phone pics to a Twitter type set up.

For those who don’t know, Tumblr.com is a platform that allows people to Tumblelog. Tumbleloging is like blogging for the attention deficit crowd. Well… actually I guess more fairly it’s like stream of thought multimedia sharing.

See something cool on the web *BAM* it’s posted! Take a pic from your phone *BAM* it’s posted! And I mean pretty much anything - photo, video, conversation, quote… pretty much anything. And it’s super user friendly with all the RSS bells and whistles too.

So, now I’m thinking. What to do with my Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, etc. All these separate RSS streams need to be consolidated. I’ll probably just end up redoing this site so that it’s more than a blog… it’s all my RSS streams consolidated. But I’m not sure when that’s happening. Maybe after I switch to WordPress. This MovableType scene is square (I mean where are the fun templates, cool plug-ins, etc?).

Oh, and while I’ve been on blogging hiatus, I had a few ideas beyond my technical prowess. Hopefully someone with such technical prowess reads this, develops this, and maybe gives me a link for putting the thought in their head. But, regardless, here’s the idea…

It’s a Twitter inspired idea (yeah I know, relax)… the concept is an ajax based start page (think Google.com/ig, Pageflakes, Netvibes, etc) where each tab would be a profile on someone you follow. For example, there could be a page for me (cause I’m fun to follow!). You could feed in my Twitters, my Blog, my Tumblr, my Flickr, and any other RSS goodness produced by me. And now apply that theory to any other personality on the web. See where this is going?

I know, why not just use netvibes, pageflakes, etc and just create custom tabs. I dunno. Because I use those start pages for the one million blogs and news sites I read. I’d rather keep my social and voyeuristic interests in a more “fun” type of a start page. Speaking of fun… it would be nice if it could grab a person’s pandora station or itunes list too. Maybe even Amazon book suggestions. And that would open it up to affiliate revenue possibilities.

This idea has money and fun written all over it. I hope some ajax inclined venture capitalist, developer, or whoever picks up on this. I am available for consulting too! I can’t do the development but I know the web 2.0 scene, I know marketing, and I know the affiliate biz, and I’m real easy to get along with. ;P

Anyway, now that I’ve given up the Golden Goose I’m going to bed… Or maybe I’ll check Twitter for a bit before I call it a night… darn addiction!
