Tivo - Advertising Search
Tivo is working on a user-interest based advertising search feature that takes information provided by a user in their profile to determine which ads to display. Will users simply skip past the ads? I’m guessing they will.
I think a more daring marketing model would be to simply create advertising channels… similar to the home shopping network but that were based on specific topics such as automotive, travel, gaming, location specific real estate, etc. Then users/consumers could turn in when they wanted to be presented with that information rather than force feed it during a commercial break.
Kinda kills the current model for funding of normal programs but I’m sure something could be worked out…
We’ll see what Tivo comes up with.
