Still Learning about Blogs?
It’s funny because the people around me, in a major metropolis like Chicago, think I’m a blog guru. It couldn’t be more from the truth. What I am is a half way intelligent person with a decent level of comprehension of the online marketing environment that allows me to see the value inherent in a search engine friendly content management system like a blog. I also happen to be able to appreciate how RSS is changing the face of the web. What I am not is a blog guru. But in relative comparison to the average internet users I have infinitely more knowledge about blogging, rss, podcasting, technorati, feedburner, flickr, and whatnot.
This creates a strange paradox in the online marketing world. My customer base wants cheap affordable organic seo solution and, in fact, one exists right under there noses but they can’t see it. This causes them to not see the value in business blogs, hiring blog content writers, blog editors, and such positions.
I suppose this is the problem with all emerging technologies. But it’s funny. Right now I have writers available to do a years worth of blog writing for under $8K. But in 2 or 3 years these same people will demand $60K to $75K/year salaries to do the same work. It’s just a matter of time. Supply and demand will see to that.
